Piano Lessons For All Ages
Over the last ten years I have had the pleasure and privilege of providing piano lessons for all ages. From as young as five right up to octogenarians, it really is never too late to learn. My adult teaching is a very rewarding and enjoyable part of my work. Whether piano lessons are something adults wish they had never given up, or wish they had begun as children, I cater for both. Learning a musical instrument brings wonderful benefits. Consequently I enjoy guiding adults to find a place in their busy lives for it. Repertoire is sourced across all genres including some of the most beautiful classical, film and popular music. I will always try to find music that inspires you, at a level that you can comfortably learn and enjoy.
Tailor Made Lessons for Children
For young people who have been studying all day at school it is important to me to offer a different learning experience. I pour my energy and enthusiasm into tailor made, fun lessons to inspire young people to develop their musicality. The benefit of the one to one lesson is that it provides a comfortable setting which is dedicated solely to that student’s individual needs and abilities. I greatly enjoy the friendly, relaxed rapport that I build with my students. I encourage them to feel confident in their musical studies, and wholly positive about the role that music plays in their lives.
Adult Piano Lessons
As with any new project or undertaking, learning a musical instrument presents students with challenges. We can overcome and clarify these challenges within the nurturing one to one setting. It also provides life skills that are insightful and versatile. For adults, piano lessons typically serve as much deserved and needed “time out for me”. It’s also a chance to use different parts of the brain that may have become neglected! Many of the adults I have had the privilege to teach are returning to lessons, and are surprised to find that they can dust off some remembered pieces! For others it is a totally new beginning, although they may have longed to learn for many years. Either way, I am determined that adults feel completely supported. I am certainly mindful of the time constraints for practice in demanding daily schedules.
Family Lessons
There is much to be said for adults taking lessons alongside their children. Above all, the whole experience becomes a shared, family affair. The children feel supported in their learning at home and observe the process of learning in a parent. Where this is not possible, I always stay in touch with parents regarding their children’s progress. Likewise, if there are any issues or challenges that may affect their children’s piano lessons. I ask the parents to keep me informed so I can modify the lessons accordingly.
